Dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ,
I welcome you to the Catholic Parish of St. Joseph’s Basilica, the Cathedral parish of The Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton.
Whether this is your first time visiting our website or if you are one of our regulars, I welcome you on behalf of our pastoral team, staff and all members of our parish faith community.
The Basilica has served the Catholic Community of Edmonton for generations. We are a large, ethnically diverse community seeking to grow in our faith and love for Jesus Christ and for each other. Individually and as a parish community, we strive for a stronger relationship with God and with others through acts of worship, prayer, study, service and mercy. As a place of worship and gathering for the entire archdiocese, we also serve as hosts for many special liturgical celebrations.
St. Joseph’s Basilica is one of the largest and most impressive churches in Western Canada and is located in the heart of the city of Edmonton on historic Jasper Avenue. The Basilica is well-known in the community for its enduring witness of the faith, iconic architecture, magnificent stained glass windows, exquisite wood carvings and other sacred art treasures.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our Basilica history. For those of you who are intending to make this your home parish, I invite you to reflect on how you can participate more fully in the life of the parish. If any questions come to mind as you look through the website, please reach out to our parish staff at 780-488-7295.
If you are new to the area, new to the parish, or if you have been part of our community for many years, all are welcome to join us in worship on Sundays, weekdays, or for moments of quiet prayer and meditation.
Fr. Joseph Vadassery
Rector, St. Joseph Basilica
